FL-700WR Electronic Flash

Powerful, Lightweight, Compact FL-700WR Electronic Flash with Wireless Radiowave Communication

Powerful, Lightweight, Compact FL-700WR Electronic Flash with Wireless Radiowave Communication

The FL-700WR flash features a compact, lightweight design that makes it easy to handle for handheld shooting and a high output with a maximum guide number of 42. Supporting wireless radiowave communication, the dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof performance delivers reliability in any shooting situation.

Features

Powerful, compact, and lightweight

A high output at a maximum guide number of 42 is achieved in a compact, lightweight body weighing approximately 303 g (body only). The angle of coverage is 24-150mm[*].

  • 35mm equivalent

Dustproof, splashproof, freezeproof to -10℃

The FL-700WR features dustproof, splashproof, freezeproof performance to -10℃. When paired with the excellent reliability of the OM-1, E-M1X, E-M1 Mark III, or E-M5 Mark III, the system can handle any scenario.

High-speed recycle time

The FL-700WR features a short charging time of approximately 1.5 seconds[1] even at full output, resulting in a short wait time and easier shooting. At 1/16 output when using 10 fps tracking sequential shooting, the flash can fire[2] for more than 50 frames.

  • 1 When using AA nickel metal hydride batteries (Ni-MH). Approximately 2.5 seconds when using alkaline batteries.
  • 2 Only when using AA nickel metal hydride batteries (Ni-MH), and OM-1, E-M1X, E-M1 Mark II / Mark III mechanical shutter

Use as a wireless radiowave communication commander or receiver

This flash supports wireless radiowave communication. This enables stable communication even in bright outdoor conditions and in places where there are obstructions. Communication is possible up to 30 meters. The flash is equipped with both a commander and receiver.

  • Supported cameras: OM-1 / E-M1X / E-M1 Mark III / E-M1 Mark II / E-M1 / E-M5 Mark III / E-M5 Mark II / E-M10 Mark IV / PEN-F

Supports up to 3 groups, unlimited multi-flash shooting

Multi-flash unit photography is possible with up to three flash groups. An unlimited number of flash units can be connected.

Scan to detect unused channels

When used as a commander, the flash can scan to detect unused channels.

Easily adjust the output with a single hand

When used as a receiver, the flash is equipped with X-RCV (individual settings) for adjusting the sync mode and flash output settings on the flash. The dial can be operated with a single hand. This design feature makes it easy to operate even during handheld off-camera flash photography.

  • 1. Left-handed flash output adjustment unique to X-RCV (individual settings)

Various shooting functions

Tripod High Res Shot, Focus Stacking, and Focus Bracketing

This flash can be used with Tripod High Res Shot included on models such as the OM-1. Focus Stacking and Focus Bracketing can also be used.

  • Manual flash only
  • The flash is not available when using Handheld High Res Shot.

Multi-firing

This flash supports multi-firing for expressing subject motion by firing the flash multiple times during long exposures or bulb shooting.

  • Supported cameras: OM-1 / E-M1X / E-M1 Mark III / E-M1 Mark II / E-M5 Mark III / E-M10 Mark IV / E-PL9 / E-PL10
  • Caution: successive use of the flash on human subjects may affect their health.

Advanced basic functions

Super FP flash

This sync mode enables flash photography even when using a high-speed shutter that exceeds the synchronisation speed of the camera. This feature can be used to open the aperture for defocusing the foreground or background even when using fill-in flash in bright outdoor conditions.

First curtain and second curtain sync

In addition to the normal first curtain sync, second curtain sync is supported for firing the flash right before the shutter closes. Using slow sync makes it possible to express a natural dynamism for moving subjects.

TTL flash

This sync mode lets the camera automatically control the flash output using the brightness of light passing through the lens. When switching to manual mode after firing the flash once using TTL flash, it is possible to retain the TTL flash output[1].

  • 1 Only for on-camera use

Video LED light

LED light

This flash is equipped with an LED light for recording videos. It can also be used as an AF illuminator.

Other basic functions

  • Equipped with a bounce mechanism that supports 180° horizontal swivel and 90° vertical swivel.
  • Equipped with a catchlight panel and 14mm[*] compatible wide panel.
  • 24-150mm[*] compatible auto zoom. Peripheral light fall-off can be reduced when using the new Wide Mode.
  • The flash is equipped with an electronic sound that notifies the user when charging battery is complete so that the flash can be used.
  • 35mm equivalent
