A motorized zoom lens with a zoom ratio of approximately 4.2X starting from a wide angle of 24mm (35mm camera equivalent).
Thanks to the new MSC (Movie & Still Compatible) mechanism with linear motor drive that enables faster, quieter focusing than previous systems and the motorized zoom mechanism that makes smooth zooming with a constant speed possible, this lens is especially useful for movie shooting as well as still images. The lens also features a macro mode for close-up shooting with a maximum image magnification of 0.36X (equivalent to 0.72X on 35mm camera). This new lens employs the proven dust-/splash-proof mechanism which is equivalent to that used in E-5 - Olympus' flagship SLR.
